Mark Daniel Coleman is an American retired mixed martial artist, professional wrestler and amateur wrestler. Coleman was the UFC 10 and UFC 11 tournament champion, the first UFC Heavyweight Champion, and the Pride Fighting Championships 2000 Open Weight Grand Prix champion. Known as the "Godfather of ground-and-pound" in the MMA world. The former Olympic amateur wrestler was the first fighter in MMA history to successfully use the "ground-and-pound" strategy. Coleman's most memorable victories included fights against Mauricio Rua, Igor Vovchanchyn, Don Frye, and Dan Severn.
